again, Dollywood won't run Thunderhead under 40, and despite it being in a colder climate, I'd say the ride operates 80% of the time in December |

I'm not doubting the decorations, they don't cost money hourly to have people operate them. Really? Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind paying Dollywood's electric bill for November and December. Or their staff which starts putting up the lights in September (and likely takes just as long to take them down) |

Behemth didn't valley under 40° temps during winter testing. It happened right before media day with temps in the 50°s/60°s. CW was tweaking the braking system and apparently the trims were grabbing a little too hard causing the valley between the third and fourth hills. god knows valleying during testing isn't a common thing or anything either It's a really good odd that new rides will valley as they play with the settings (lift speed, wheels, brakes etc), though for it to valley pretty late in the game is a bit odd |

QUOTE you are all probably speaking from personal/family beliefs and experiences just as I did before turning 18 and getting out of my parents house. Funny! I was the same way. I actually voted yes to a state amendment to ban gay marriage in 2004, when I was 18 and participating in my first election. To me it was immoral and marriage should be a man and woman. Mind you I live in a state where oral sex was illegal until very recently. Today? I wish I could have my vote back, not that it mattered as my state passed the bill at a more than 2-1 margin. In hindsight, I'm actually quite saddened that gay marriage was such a big talking point in that election. I'm not exactly pro-gay these days, more or less passive on the subject. It doesn't bother me, and who am I to even worry about that |

they learn what the social norms are, they learn about life. Who gives a fuck about "social norms"? Why is everyone so hell bent on being "normal" and not accepting of their uniqueness? QUOTE pkd804, you're starting to sound condescending to those who don't support gay marriage. Because a church believes that it's wrong, which they have the First Amendment right to do, you're calling them retarded. So you're saying that everyone is equal and should have equal rights, then let those who oppose gay marriage have their equal rights as well and let them speak their minds without having you call them "retarted." Hypocrisy at it's best, I suppose. Disregarding their position on gay marriage, as I really don't care about it and my feelings on the group go deeper than the issue, I have no problem with anyone calling the Westboro Baptist Church retarded. They should all burn in hell. I agree that two men or two women should have no trouble raising a child. I guarantee that child will grow up to be more accepting of others' differences and will be a better person because of it. |

Homosexuality is defiantly normal. Normal is a funny word honestly, it depends on what you are looking at as normal. Social acceptance is becoming more and more the "norm". Sure, you can cry foul on gay marriage bans, but 30 years ago, no one really came out. It wasn't accepted at all, gays were grouped with the gypsies in Hitler's Europe. The fact that gay marriage was a key issue in the 2004 presidential election (despite my personal objections to debating such an issue with a war going on) just shows how far this nation has come to even make it an argument. At least nowadays you can be fairly comfortable "out". Its more "normal" these days. Physically? I'd have to say that homosexuality is abnormal. Loving a person who shares your gender isn't abnormal, but that's more emotional... I believe sexual relations between homosexuals are abnormal. Simple anatomy - men can't reproduce with other men and the same holds true with women. |

I majored in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies U of R really has that as a major? I know a lot of schools with majors like that, still not sure how one would apply that to a career though, unless its just a precursor to some grad work. The same can be said about a lot of majors - including my own. I'm strait and don't see a problem with this thread. |

Noone wants to buy a park when the economy knows no floor. Its sad really. not necessarily true, with real estate being under valued, the dollar being week against many foreign currencies, and some companies are still doing ok, the parks are prime for purchase by a foreign company. Sound familiar? |

Notice the article says all 12 breweries will stay open as long as there are no new federal taxes. Carlos Brito must not be too knowledgable about us. You know since it's foreign owned, there'll probably be higher taxes. I'm sure that being a CEO and all, he knows darn well that we have absurd corporate taxes, and that they will just be going up come 2009. |

QUOTE And it still really makes me chuckle that you guys believe it's the "great American beer" in the first place. If you all truly cared so much about pride and history and other such bollocks, you'd be supporting true American beers from local breweries. The only reason any of you care, with a couple of very small exceptions, is because of the parks attached to the company. Amen! Support the micro breweries! |

Do you have a problem of freedom of speech? I think it's moronic to believe that the federal governmnet isn't capable of such a cover-up. You sound like some people I know who make it seem lilke your un-american if you don't believe Bush and his war machine. No but apparently the Democrats want to bring back limits on free speech. Remember I'm a libertarian I want more freedom than either the Democrats or Republicans would ever dream of giving the citizens on this nation. I totally believe the government is capable of such acts. However I also totally believe that this argument has been going on for years and is simply played-out. |

...he was wrong when it came to greeting us as liberators. and so forth. I really shouldn't have slipped away from the isle of Islay for this, but c'mon, yes there was resistance, but ask the average Iraqi and I'm sure they are happier today than they were 6 years ago with Saddam in charge. Look at how its going today.. eventually the resistance died off (it helps when they are killing themselves). The fact that some of the fighters were coming in from other nations didn't help the transition. These people were taught that the western world is evil. They had one of the ten largest armies in the world. You can't tell me that if the US wasn't invaded, that there wouldn't be resistance, that some people, no matter how bad this nation may get, would fight to the death. For the most part, we were greeted as liberators. Whether or not you think we should have gone in, the fact is that a terrible regime with a history of genocide is gone. The Husseins are dead. Most people I know, even liberals, agree thats a good thing. |
