Since I havnt been to BGE and would have to guess were every ride at BGE would be on my top ten BGE ride, ill have to say my #2 spot, since i think AC will be number 1 for me.

I think the elements of Griffon combine the elements of the company's two best coasters, Apollo and Apollo's Chariot.

It's going to be the best thing there for a while, but when things settle down, It'll probabaly fall to my number 2 slot. My favorite will probabaly be AC or DK, depending on my mood.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I'm still going to reserve the #2 spot at Busch Gardens for Griffon

Yeah I don't want to get my hopes too high, not saying it's going to be bad or anything. If it's better than Apollo and DarKastle then awesome, if not I'll still be able to sleep at night

If Griffon is anything just like SheiKra(which,BTW,hopefully I'll be riding this coming Fall),They got a winner on their hands.

Judging by where I rank Sheikra versus where I rank Apollo's... its hard to imagine it not being #2 at best.

I voted 1st. I love Apollo's Chariot, but you really need something fresh once in a while. Just my thoughts.

Based on where I've rated Alpengeist, Apollos Chariot, & SheiKra in my life list, Griffon will probably "drop" in as the #2 or #3 ride @ BGE--IMO

Lets see, my top four are
1. El Toro
2. Nitro
3. Sheikra
4. Montu
I have no idea where Griffion will land next summer because I'm also going to ride Alpie and Apollo for the first time, and I'm predicting those will be at least in my top 5. I'm thinking something like this:
1. El Toro
2. Tie between Nitro and Apollo
3. Griffon
4. Alpengeist
5. Sheikra

I think it will be my 1st favorite at BG. It seems like its going to be so much fun, and just a little more thrilling than AC. Alpengeist might come second since Im a huge fan of inverted coasters.

Since Griffon will be like 2 coasters in one, it will probably be my 2nd favorite behind AC.

Griffon is actually shorter that
Sheikra, by about 80'. It's not much but it's just proof . . .
Griffon is pretty much a recreation, with the elements in different parts of the ride. Sure it's got a second immelman, but elements don't always make a ride. You've got the drop. 5' extra feet, big woop, immelman, brakes, another immelman, may give some air-time, but still a big whoop, the bunny hill, and the water section. It does have a couple extras, but I'm sure Sheikra & Griffon will still be rated about the same.

I think they will be different. When i studied and researched rollercoasters for a school they said at many websites that they were determined by what an elements are in it. Like most hypers have the same height ranges and there not the same. I dont know were you got that idea. Like flyers again they have elements many sorts of places and inverts they share alot of similiar elements but that does not mean Alpie is the same as Talon. Im pretty sure that your statement was comletely unneccecary. Its not close to duplicate. Griffon has no tunnel Sheikra has no bunny hop before splash and Griffon doesnt have a banked u turn before splash. I think that they will be pretty different giving each a unique setting I mean thats what B&M are know for thats why busch hires them not some recreation designer.

If you would have taken the time to actually read my entire post, you would have seen that I said "they are similar with the elements changed a round." The only add thing Griffon basically has is an extra immelman.
Denis
Nov 18 2006, 08:57 PM
Griffon will be slightly better than SheiKra, basically because of the 2 Innelmans, the airtime pop, and of course, the floorless trains.

I'm not sure why so many are getting caught up with the whole "Griffon is shorter than SheiKra" thing. Griffon packs more into a shorter layout, that's all. And you all are forgetting the magical Busch Gardens Europe touch...I personally think Griffon will collectively be considered the superior Dive Machine

Although I know Griffon is going to awesome, nothing can hold a candle to the wonderful Apollo therefore i'm sure that its going to be number two

Nov 21 2006, 01:05 AM
Yeah, Apollo's Chariot is the best coaster in the park, and a top 5 coaster. I think Griffon will be the #10 coaster on the planet when it opens, above SheiKra.

i love both ac and alpie. i think maybe the first few times i ride griffon itll jump up to 1. but, i think alpie will slide right back up to 1. and griffon and ac will fight over 2. all three of them will probly be in a close race..lol

I almost hate to say this, but BBW is my all time favorite. It's short, sweet, and fast. I love the quick turns through the town, and the last drop down the second lifthill is phenominal!
Of course, LNM is my second fave, followed by AC, then Alpie. I think there will be a close tie between Alpie and Griffon in my book. While I love the loops, twists, and turns, I always enjoy the airtime the best with any coaster.

I'm gonna have to ride it at least 5 more times before I can make an accurate decision. Right now, it's behind Alpie, but rides have to grow on me. Thunderhead didn't do anything for me the first couple times around, but on ride 30, it was really good. I'm sure Griffon will be in close competition with AC and Alpie.

LMN, how can you put BBW over Griffon?
Well...
Alpengiest, is just not my thing, too jerky if I am not in the first two rows. BBW is really good if you are in the first half of the train (I get dizzy if I am in the back), This is my thought on Griffon..
1. Its NOT a 205 ft 90deg drop, possibly 100ft?
2. No real air time
3. If you are not if the front, dont ride. (if you are in the back, it is just another rollercoaster, in the front, the wind/force brough tears to my eyes)
4. In all 3 rows, my feet were planted firmly on the floor. (In AC, I can "Soar" better) im only 6"1'
If Alpi was not as jerky, Griffon would be on the bottem of my list. (Sorry)

I'm surprised that Griffon became so high for me, but the fact that its a new experience, a great ride, and so enjoyable. Also that far end seat in the front row is my favorite seat on a coaster.

Speaking generally, i think Griffon will be in the top ten in the Mitch Hawker poll this year and it will push Sheikra down quite a lot or they will fit side by side. But i see it at around 10th place.
I think the top ten in the mitch hawker poll will actually be almost completely rewritten this year... it will be interesting to see where coasters which have been there for years will end up. Part of me wants to see Nemesis fall down off it's high horse, in hope that as more Brit's get out there and ride Katun, Pyranees and Montu (because there's no doubt that Nemesis has a huge enthusiast base backing it - being the only truly outstanding thing in the country) they will prefer them. But that's just me being twisted.
Having not ridden it i'm not gunna vote, but somedays i actually think Oblivion is Alton's best ride. So, on that basis, i think it's fair to say that i'd really like Griffon.

Why do you even care about that poll?!
HAJiME
Sep 26 2007, 08:30 AM
...Well, why don't you care about the poll?
I care because it's molded by the views of well traveled and well knowledge enthusiasts and is the most accurate general idea of whats hot and what's not.
I find it fascinating, because sometimes things i think suck/will suck do well and viceversa and i like to see what changes from year to year. It's interesting to see how my opinion differs from the majority and how individual riders compared 2 different rides in the mutual rider spreadsheet. It gives me a good idea of what to and what not to expect from rides i haven't ridden and it pisses a lot of BGE fanboys off, clearly. I don't see what there isn't to love about it.
Seriously though, i get the impression that a lot of people hate the thing because their favourite coaster doesn't do so well. My favourite coaster is 173rd... Do i complain? No, i just accept that the majority obviously has a very different opinion to me.
There has to be a general "rule" somewhere or there wouldn't be any grounds for comparison. That poll is the rule. I know, for example, that Nemesis is the best thing I've ridden in terms of quality. Nemesis is one of the highest quality coasters in the world in terms of that general rule - Ultimate is just amazing fun, more thrilling, brutally intense and actually scary which is why i prefer it.
It's really snobbish and it does piss me off when people with 400CC plus turn round and say "well when you've ridden as many coasters as I have you'll understand why *insert coaster name here* is good or bad." But hey, i'm not gunna argue that logic!
