What do you think is the best coaster at BGE?

I think it is Apollo because it has some nice air time and smooth hill like every B&M Hyper should.
vekoma9
I think it is Alpengiest for it's fast speed and it's themeing and intense inversions.
just20706
I voted alpengeist ebeacus it's one of those few coasters that go really fast through it's inverisons so it feels even more intense. like the twisty drop too.

WWEEEEEHHHOOOAAHH!!!
Fergusonat
Definitely Apollo's Chariot for me...the ride is pure perfection. Nothing has come close for me yet cool.gif
Disciple_of_BGE
A semi-tough decision, but Apollo's Chariot takes the cake for me...its smooth, thrilling, fast, lots of g's, awesome drop, and overall great ride in any seat.
Nayrb
With out a doubt it's Apollo's Chariot. Quite simply put by some random person while getting of the ride that my friend overheard: "That ride was fun! It was Fast and Smooth!" (said with a county accent, of course)
Hepta
^Very well put.

Apollo's Chariot for me.
coasterbilly
it's all about the Chariot, just because I love B&M Speed coasters and it had such a great layout along the river and how unique the hills are, Alpie is great but it has roughened since it's getting older, but Apollo just edges it
Volcano
Both Alpie and Apollos Chariot are great rides but i think that Apollos Chariots better than Alpie its an overall great ride.
BJ KoasterKooK
Its like trying to pick which is a better car; a C6 Corvette or a 911 Porsche--they're both fantasic cars that cater to different tastes, just like Alpie & AC.
I'd have to give Alpengeist the edge for me because of its intensity thruout and overall thrill factor. Apollos' 1st drop, air-time, and smoothness are legendary; I'd really rather not have to pick between them tongue.gif
Fergusonat
^It is very nice to see you on these boards, KoasterKook...welcome smile.gif

I can definitely see how one can go either way on this question, but I think what it comes down to with me is the seating. Alpengeist's is extremely exclusive. If you don't have a front outer seat, your experience is going to hurt, IMO. Apollo's Chariot is fantastic ride with great airtime and great views ANYWHERE you sit. Sure there are better seats than others, but the ride is much more accessible, if you wanna put it that way. Alpengeist, you basically have to invest at least a solid 25 minutes waiting for the front row to have the best ride possible wink.gif That's just my take on the situation at least
BJ KoasterKooK
^^Thanks for the welcome ferg--you guys really got a great site here, since you know some of my strengths ( & probably weaknesses too tongue.gif ), if theres anything I can do to help in some small way let me know.
You are 100% correct with your "exclusivity" of Alpies seating to get the best thrill & experience--but thats true of all Inverts, ONLY the front seats give you what you need, and the outside front are the best of the best, so to speak. And with AC, there is no "bad" seats, just better xperiences here or there--kinda like most sit-downs or platform DM cars--no real bad seats, just some more xtreme thrills over others--ferg, your going to freak over this new DM wink.gif
JamMasterJ
I would have to give Alpie the nod, but just barely. I love inverts with (almost) all of my heart, and Alpie's my baby.
Mit-mit
Apollo most def! Although I love being twisted and turned on Alpengeist, Apollo is still the best for a thrill for me. =D
drgnlvr89
I'm going to have to say Big Bad Wolf. It's an awesome ride and flying right down over the water...just kidding wink.gif

Definitely going with Apollo, with Alpengeist as a very close second. Apollo has an almost floorless-like feel. The drops are insanely amazing, the turnaround is awesome, and the mid-course doesn't really slow you down as much as Alpengeist's does so you get major air on that drop. Plus, Alpengeist tends to have a slightly slower loading time. But Alpengeist does have it's many pro's, but since I didn't vote for it, I won't say them (they pretty much go without saying anyway biggrin.gif )
Jack_Ryan
One more vote for Alpengeist. Although Apollo is a very close second.

For me, it's the inversions, especially front row at night.
Mit-mit
The inversions are great, but Alpie goes by too fast for me. I dunno, Apollo for me is much more enjoyable and seems to be a longer ride biggrin.gif
hermione4586
Apollo's Chariot! I love how smooth the ride is, I love the airtime, it's a nice longish satisfying ride. Plus the trains are so comfortable, I could just sit in the seat and rest forever. tongue.gif
red dog 40
gotta go with Apollos, the airtime is just amazing
ThoughtIsMyArt
Apollo for me.... I love the consistency of the ride. Throughout the whole ride, you get a steady dose of thrills, even, if not especially, at the end. My favorite seat, as on any coaster, is the very back, where I can get whipped and slung over the drops for thee most airtime possible biggrin.gif

Alpengeist is a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery close second. That ride is all about the inversions though. Nothing wrong with that, but a little of that classic air-time wouldn't hurt.
pmr12002
Alpengist is Definatly a great ride.... I still miss Drachen Fire though sad.gif sad.gif

lol gotta go with the 911 turbo s. the corvette is nice but theyre everywhere tongue.gif

back on topic lol. I gotta go with apollo because its got amazing airtime, its fast, and the drops are incredible. alpengeist is a close 2nd, great drop the inversions are awesome but a little rough. thats the only ride that ive been on thats made my eyes water even in the 4th row...
augustus
There is nothing like flying on the "wings of Apollos Chariot".
DarKastleFreak
Agreed! I prefer a voyage to the sun to an avalanche of adenture.

Best ride ever: In the dark during howl-o-scream, sitting in the back row.
Dannyf8989
yea back row at night is incredible. cant wait to get out there with some friends on the 15th and ride it again... even though i just rode it a week ago
Nitro1
I like Alpengeist too. I like the all inversions. I love the drop too. The front is the best.

But, on Apollo's Chariot, you have to ride it in the back!!!
Griffon07
I really like Loch Ness, but I went with Apollo's Chariot. Unfortunetly, it has litteraly no theming at all. But I just love the speed you get on the chariot. And I also like the airtime especially when you skim the ground at the turn-around.

Griffon07
BuschNut
There really isn't any room for a theme. I do like the nylon tent-like loading area.
AC onlooker
Yeah, i voted for AC even though i havnt been on any of them, but i absolutley love nitro so I know i love AC too.
ThoughtIsMyArt
There are no other coasters like any of the coasters at BGE. Voting based on your experience with another ride is like saying you automatically like somebody just because you like their brother or sister. dry.gif
Fergusonat
Nitro and Apollo's Chariot are very comparable, ThoughtIsMyArt. Have you ever ridden Nitro? Very similar rides with pretty much the same design style. The only true difference is that Apollo is for the most part a strict out-and-back while Nitro incorporates the out-and-back layout as well as some nice twister portions. Overall, I think AC's airtime wins out, and the atmosphere definitely beats the crap out of Nitro's, but when viewed from a completely objective perspective, they are very easily compared.

Lets put it this way, AC onlooker...if you liked Nitro you will love Apollo's Chariot smile.gif
SES
Well, usually I don't have any particular favorites there, each of them are unique in their own way,but if I did have to choose which one I like,I would have to go with Apollo's Chariot just because it was my very first hypercoaster. smile.gif
AC onlooker
Yeah, I mean the reason why I LOVE Nitro is because of its great seats, great airtime, very fast and smooth and I would beleive that I would either like them the same, dislike it a little bit more then nitro, or like it a little better since they are the same make and have the same kind of airtime-filled hills.
Hercules
Apollo's Chariot is by far the best coaster in the park, although I have a thing for Big Bad Wolf. There is nothing that comes close to Apollo's Chariot in my opinion though, eventhough it did not impress me like I thought it would. It certainly did not take my breath away like Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure did on my first ride.

I was very disappointed with Alpengeist. It is a good thing that I have a season pass because I feel that it just has to be better than what it was. The same thing for Apollo's. I really want to love that ride.
Denis
Haven't been to the park yet, but Apollo's Chariot is my vote, since it's the 5th best steel coaster in the world.
Gabe Morales
I'd have to say Apollo's Chariot. I love all the other roller coasters, but Apollo's Chariot is the best. Alpengeist is a close second.
Mr. Integrity
I voted Alpie, for overall best ride experience in the park.
kurdtlives
I had to go with Apollo..I love Alpengeist but Apollo just has more of the "fear" factor, plus the amazing airtime.
The Loch Ness Monster
Guess what I voted for? The classic still thrilling, Loch Ness Monster.

Alpengeist back in 97 was far superior to Apollo in 99. I don't like the fact that Busch has dumbed down the ride with the excessive braking. Every so often when the stars are just right you can catch the ride in its 1997 glory though, no lift trim, almost nonexistant MCBR. It will change your life.

Alot of folks yell about Montu being superior. Most of them probably never took a lap on Alpie back in 97.

Alpengeist gets my vote!
griffonstomp
While Alpengiest offers much more elements than any coaster at BGE, Apollo is just more enjoyable, it is smooth, so you can go completely limp without getting any whip, and the drop is superior by far. Alpie is great, don't get me wrong, but a little rough. -Best zero-g roll I've ever ridden though. rolleyes.gif
BuschNut
I think it's only a little rougher because it is older. When Alpengeist first opened, it was incredibely smooth.
Footballteen58
I'm gonna say Apollo's but Alpie, LNM, and BBW are all great coasters unlike some in a certain Doswell park.
animator
Alpengeist is still my favorite for the G's and the rolls with Apollo's a very, very close second.
paulintheburggg
i love all the rides at busch, but griffon is my favorite. Apollo isnt that far behind tho.
The Kraken
I like Apolo and Alpie. Really I like every coaster at Busch Gardens!

Alpi has been getting more and more violent the last 2 years
The Kraken
I didnt find Alpie bad last season when I went.
Fergusonat
It's really not that bad, lol...granted, it's not as smooth as Apollo or Griffon obviously, but that is half of its appeal for me personally. It lets all the riders know that it means business
paulintheburggg
This is my opinion, but to me aplenguest is only really awesome in the front, because in the other rows you can't really tell whats going on, just alot of turns and stuff. Now I'm not saying the other rows aren't fun, but the front row is just in its own league.
