Ok, I'll start a topic I suppose...How would you rank your top 10 favorite Busch Gardens Europe rides? And in addition, make a prediction on where you think the new coaster will land in that Top 10 wink.gif

Here's my personal BGE Top 10:

1) Apollo's Chariot
2) Alpengeist
3) Curse of DarKastle
4) Big Bad Wolf
5) Loch Ness Monster
6) Escape from Pompeii
7) Corkscrew Hill
8) Sky Ride
9) Roman Rapids
10) RL Stine's Haunted Lighthouse

At the moment, I am going to predict that the new coaster, whatever it might be ( rolleyes.gif ) will not quite match up to Alpengeist, but will beat out DarKastle and the park's other coasters smile.gif
Nayrb
This is a hard list to decide on...

1» Apollo's Chariot
2» Curse of DarKastle
3» Alpengeist
4» Turkish Delight
5» Escape from Pompeii
6» Roman Rapids
7» Big Bad Wolf
8» Land of Dragons (yeah, what about it?)
9» Loch Ness Monster
10» Skyride
downset13

^Dude, you have to get down there to ride DarKastle. It may take a few rides to let it grow on you, but it is an amazing experience smile.gif
downset13
If it's anything like Spider Man, I'm sure I will love it! Plus it's newer, which means I'm sure they've worked out some of the kinks in Spider Man that take away from the experience.
Fergusonat
Well, the general word among those who have ridden both say Spiderman is still better, but from screenshots I've seen, DarKastle's animation is, well, more aesthetically pleasing?
Nayrb
Spiderman is much more themed beyond the screens than DarKastle and you get very lost between what is a screen and what is not. That's the only main differance, after you get past that fact you have to depend on which story you like more and for me that is DarKastle.
Fergusonat
I guess you have to look at it this way too...Islands of Adventure is in competition with very big-name parks that depend on theming for their business. It should be expected that the ride would be ridiculously themed. BGE doesn't have that same competition (God, with how PKD is scaring customers away, they barely need to advertise ohmy.gif ), and yet they still chose to build an extremely unique ride...you have to hand them credit for that smile.gif And for all those who say DarKastle has a cheesy storyline, it's all in perception. Personally, I think if some park randomly made a ride centered around a story about a guy in tights shooting web out of his wrists, most people would say that was cheesy too. For coming up with a story from scratch, Busch Gardens has done an amazing job

I hate to burst your bubble, but Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria was a very real person. Golden sleighs, caverns, multiple castles all true. But turning a true story into a ride that people can enjoy is still amazing.
Mit-mit
Hmmm. Top 10 eh?

1) Apollo
2) Alpengeist
3) DarKastle
4) Loch Ness
5) Big Bad Wolf
6) Roman Rapids
7) Escape From Pompeii
8) Log Flume
9) DaVinci's Cradle
10) Flying Machine

Meh, I did some research on the subject of "Mad King Ludwig" and they made A LOT of that stuff up. Such as the whole thing about the Bavarian treasury running dry. Turns out that Ludwig paid for all those castles with his family's personal estate, which he bankrupted. And most experts on the subject doubt that Ludwig was even "insane." His parents didn't "mysteriously disappear" either. Plus, he wasn't "evil" by any stretch either. Until the end of his reign when most people at the time started to think he was going crazy, his subjects loved the guy because he would ride around in his "Golden Sleigh" from time to time and talk amongst the common people.

Of course I knew he was a real person and all. What I was trying to say is that Busch Gardens needed to come up with an entire storyline, or at least piece together some facts with a storyline they could mold a ride to, whereas Universal had the villains, characters, and basic plot already laid out in hundreds of comic books that the public was already familiar with. Essentially, Busch Gardens did come up with a story from scratch because the public had no clue what the hell they were getting into
Mit-mit
For real...I really can't say much because I bought the crap that they put together. And sad part is: I work at Busch. ::sigh:: So I guess I'll start telling the guests we are lying to them ^_~
Fergusonat
^The good news is that the stuff they made up makes the ride kickass biggrin.gif

Oh, and I moved this topic to the "Park Attractions" discussion because it seemed to fit better here because it is specifically geared towards the park's individual attractions smile.gif

(God, with how PKD is scaring customers away, they barely need to advertise ohmy.gif )

I don't want to take this off-topic or anything, but I'm curious about how PKD is scaring customers away, aside from the nasty bathrooms that is. I haven't been to PKD in a few years, so I'm not up-to-date on that scene.

kumba9
BGE top ten:

1. Apollo's (Fabio's bird-in-face) Chariot.
2. Alpengeist (is it me or is the ride aging quite a bit in its upcoming 10th anniv in 07?)
3. Dark Kastle (wish I could have seen it on its innaugural season to compare changes).
4. BBW-my baby..lol (First coaster I worked on both in operations/management and in maintenance).
<5. Drachen Fire-ooops! Typo>
5. Nessie
6. Escape from Pompei (wow, some special effects have dwindled since its opening season).
7. Le Scoot Flume-classic water ride (with poor capacity).
8. DaVinci's back-breaker (what the hell did they do to this ride in last few years?)
9. LeMans raceway; so-long LM sad.gif
10. Skyride/Train-nothing beats a fun transportion to get to other side of the park (especially versus walking down towards Rhine River-hills).

Griffonluv
Though my name makes people think that Griffon is my favorite, it is not! ohmy.gif Overall, I think that your favorite ride depends on the time of year you go to Busch Gardens the most. So here I have 3 favorites depending on the season. In the spring when BG first opens I love Apollos Chariot! It's just so wonderful flying through with it being cold yet fun. During the summer I like Griffon because of it's quick moving line. And in the winter... Alpengeist Please!! Whether it's the bare trees, snow/mountain/amazing theme of the ride, or just the feelingof riding Alpie with a sweatshirt that makes it so great, it is definitely my favorite ride.

To tell you the truth, Griffon is a bit over-rated imo.

1) Alpengeist
2) Apollos Chariot
3) Griffon
4) Lochness Monster
5) Corkscrew Hill
6) Davinci's Cradle
7) Anywhere where I can get a funnel cake
8) Big Bad Wolf
9) Pretzel/churro/drink stand near Griffon entrance! wink.gif
10) Battering Ram

No Dark castle. It's not that exciting and the line is way too long to even consider it.
