Over the weekend, an apparent issue with the BBW transformer had a 'mind-of-its-own' and caused a power outage on the ride. One of the trains was reportedly stuck on the #2 lift and evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The ride is still in operation under the back-up system and an upgrade/replacement may take place within the next 2 weeks or so. If anyone else notices any downtimes within this timeline, this would be the most likely reason.

I have personally worked on this ride (operations and maintenance) and if this has occured, then it (transformer) has gotten more mileage than its life expectancy. I believe the last time an upgrade/replacement was done was back around 89 season. Any other known reports about the ride (I believe it is still operating under the back-up system)?

I'd say the BBW experiences downtime at least 30% of the times I go. Of all the coasters, it's been the one most often closed for one reason or another.

Hmmmm, interesting...I usually end up not even riding the Wolf due to the long lines lately, so this isn't much of a blow to me haha biggrin.gif

Little confused here. Are the transformers the kind a generator thing or is it the thing that connects the cars that the attendants check before the riders ride??

Ya my past two times going there i couldnt go because of the loooooong lines. its sorta funny when it takes longer to get on a normal seat on BBW, then getting front row of Apollo's Chariot...hmm i choose to ride front row A/C. BBW is just always filled up with little kids waiting in line for the only coaster they can ride, and their parents. BGE needs a family coaster, so the little ones arent all forced to ride BBW if they even want the coaster experience

I went the 16th and it was closed. That made me really sad because BBW is a really good coaster. Especially in the dark.

BBW is the most insane Arrow out there, especially for a Suspended coaster, the drop to the lake is one of the most out of control moments on any coaster i've been on

Definitely agree with that.

^I don't know Top Gun at Kings Island gave quite an impressive thrill that gave BBW a run for its money. It was actually hard to decide which I liked more, but when it came down to the end I figured I'd rather have a long ride with theming and beautiful surroundings. cool.gif
