This will be our first trip and I am a rather large woman and I was wondering how the rides are for fitting us fluffier people? Thank you ahead of time for any help! biggrin.gif

I think all the non-coaster type rides should be pretty good for you. Roller coaster wise, you might find it uncomfortable on Loch Ness Monster and Big Bad Wolf. The trains are smaller and more restrictive than any of the newer coasters. Alpengeist, Griffon and Apollo's Chariot all actually have seats that have different harnesses that are designed in mind for larger riders.

I hope this helped you a bit, and have a wonderful trip! smile.gif I'm sure you'll love it!

Exactly what I was going to say! When you enter the queue area for the newer rides, Griffon, and Alpengeist, you can always ask an attendant which seats you would fit into more comfortably (I hope I'm not sounding rude with this). I believe all of these rides have "test" seats at the entrance to their queues to test also, to see if you can fit comfortably into them. I'm not really sure though, if Apollo's Chariot has seats designed for larger people, as I've seen large people sitting in the seats and the attendants fighting with the lapbar to get it down far enough to lock. I think they ended up having to ask the person to leave the ride because they couldn't get the restraints to lock in. But the person was "really" big too.

I hope it all works out for you. Have fun at the park!

I think the size Busch states in their signs is "guests with waists approaching 52" so it al depends on that.

Apollo's Chariot has no accomodating seats, as its locking system does not use seatbelts in addition to the restraint. They have a test car at the entrance, and if you pull down the melted frisbee (I mean lap bar) and you see a red line at the base of the restraint on the floor, the seat wil lock and you're fine. I've always hated how molded the seats are and how unsafe they look, even though they're really actally very safe.

Griffon has accomodating seats in all three rows in the middle (I believe it's one in row 1 and 3, and 2 in row 2, but I would ask an attendant).

Alpengeist has accomodating seats in the middle seats (2) of rows 4 and 5 (underneath the huge orange 4 diamonds sign in the ceiling).

Yeah, Loch Ness and Big Bad are hard to get into for everyone, so I don't know. They also don't have test cars... Still, the restraints seem to start to lock down when they're still pretty high up so you might be good for those as well.

DarKastle has seats that remain locked, you just lower them until they're snug, so that will be fine.

Corkscrew Hill and roman rapids have seatbelts, so that's fine.

Pompeii has a big lapbar with only 1 setting, so depending on if it can remain up, you should be fine.

Hope this helps and have fun!

what gets weird is how well i fit into the larger seats at BGT... but BGW needed a little help with one seatbelt on alpangeist... though old nessy and wolfie were easy since the arrow restraints are designed differently.

Just be careful since single rider doesn't get to choose seats on griffin if you need the larger seat. (might be different on a slower day)

Actually, with the single rider line @ Griffon, just tell the ride operator that you're going to require one of the seats with a double seat belt, and they'll accomodate you.

didn't know that, or it was because ot was a busy day they were pushing to not go around it...

sadly I caused a slight backup... didn't mean to, did do everything i was told though.

No worries...not everyone knows about it...but you do now! :-) Ride operators are actually much nicer than people give them <cough> credit for... biggrin.gif

^ I can't say i've ever met a ride op on a major coaster that was "nice."

I am now expecting to be plesently suprised at BGE. smile.gif

With B&M's you'd have to be seriously huge to have issues i think. At Least you don't have to worry about Intamin at BGE.

A friend of mine, who isn't even that big, can't get on Colossus... Because of his thieghs. Wth?

Also many flat rides seem to be an issue for larger people. Usually depends where you are 'large' though.

If in doubt, ask.

The only crappy ride ops I have ran into were at CP, other than that...I have had good experiences with them.
BGEchick2007
Yea...the ones I met down in Fl. weren't bad...they just weren't as approachable...IDK...maybe it was just me.

Yeah, when I went to CP the ride ops didn't even tug on your harness, they just tapped it huh.gif

Interesting...the ride ops at BGE tend to just tap the restraints too. At least, on some of the rides, Alpie and BBW to be exact. They go as far as just putting their hands on the restraints so they can say they checked them.

That, and they were just plain a-holes.
Coasterholic25
Weird, I have never had any problems with the ride ops at BGE, they all seemed really nice and even enthusiastic. Especially the ones with the mic, they talk crap to the crowds waiting in line which actually makes waiting line go by alot faster. I have experienced this on AC, Alpie, and Griffon. Now the ride ops at Kings Dominion is a whole different story.
HAJiME
The ride ops have been good at Thorpe recently. Might be new management cutting down on the wankers... But they often don't check the actual restraint, just pull the seatbelt, which is far more logical since it's that that will save you. tongue.gif Some ops on Inferno insist on pushing the restraints tight for no reason. They need to learn that if the seatbelt is in place (...and you're not riding an Intamin, har) you're not going anywhere.

Pinning on a otsr. What is wrong with their brains.

Of course, Colossus no one can fit in if they are even slightly over weight. I know people who aren't big at all, just have long legs... and have to cross their legs to get the orst down? Eughcolossucks. So badly designed it hurts my brain, both literally and thinking about it.

So, yeah, Intamin are craptastic for catering for "people of size."
